I'm the Best Cook in the House
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's long been known that my mom can't cook. In fact, I've been cooking since age 7 because she is so bad. I, on the other hand, am fantastic. I can take almost any ingredients and make something tasty out of it. Like tonight, I wanted something with spice, other than my mom's buffalo wings (more on that in a minute,) so I made my famous Mexican tortilla wraps, which is a recipe I invented... but my mom wouldn't let me use jalapenos. My mom decided to make buffalo wings. She had no idea that they were spicy or that you use bleu cheese as a dipping sauce. She made them so spicy that my brother and I are the only ones who can eat them! She's so funny!!
This holiday hasn't been to bad for food. Not too much black I've had to scrape off her cooking, but on Sunday the turkey was dry, the stuffing was wet (we all thought it was soup) and the corn cassorole was so dry it shriveled up. ---he he, I just said shriveled up!!!
Sorry, I should add that I've been drinking, so my writing is probably erotic... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I HATE New Year's Eve
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hate this day. Why, your curious mind may ask? Well, it's because I look back on a whole year and realize my life has barely changed. And for the 21st time out of 23 New Year's Eves I'm single. Yeah, no one to go to the bar with, as my friends are all over the place, and the town of 400 is dead.
But that's all going to end in 2004. Look for my resolutions to be posted on January 1st, 2004.
Yep, I'm with the family for a couple more days. So, if you're trying to get a hold of me, call my cell as I forgot to change my message on my machine at home. I'm just eating and watching movies with the family tonight, so feel free to bug me.

It's Just Hair, Okay?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just added new a couple new photos to the photo link on your right. While I was doing that, I noticed the different hair cuts I have had in the past year. I swear, I've had a new cut for each month. Right now my hair is short (between the ears and shoulders,) but all the photos online have me with long hair.
And, while I was posting one from my grad. class at the University of Texas at Austin (I have a couple more I have to find,) I was thinking of how Stephan (a guy from the grad. class) asked me if I changed my hair color one day while I was shopping in the campus center. I was like, "No, but I left it wavy today." (Due to the fact that I was running late for class that morning, I didn't even think I would make the 8 a.m. bus, because I was a little hungover from the open bar the night before.) I did notice, though, that my natural hilights look different when I leave my hair wavy, so it might make it a little brighter.
Isn't it amazing how hair can transform you? I mean, my hair cut now, it's just makes me always look happy with the way the waves add subtleness to my face.
But I wasn't happy when I walked into the ballgame last Tuesday and heard, "Wow, Miss H., I like it." from one of my perverted students. Yeah, don't like it when he says that... because I know the next word out of his mouth is going to be "sexy," and, alas, it was.
And you're reading this meaningless blog entry due to my hair.

We All Know that I'm a Fruitcake
I've done something I shouldn't have ever done; but did. I became too involved in the screen play I am writing. See, I modeled the main character after myself, and the rest of the characters how I wish some people in my life were, which was never a problem, until now. Because of the conflict, I have to kill off one of the characters. I've known this for a long time, but it hit me today. I'm still about 40-odd pages from where I need to kill the character off at, but still it kills me.
This is so sad, but when I'm having a bad day and need a happy place, I think about that screen play. I think about the happy times the characters are involved in, and how happy they are... and then I'm going to have to wham them up along side the head with this death. A death that I don't even want to occur because the character is kind, caring, and exuberant... someone I've grown to love...
I'm beginning to feel more and more like Virginia Wolfe each day.

It all Changed My Life
Book
That changed my life: The Outsider's--Enough said.
That I couldn't live without: Anything by Jane Austen. She's my favorite author and when I'm feeling bad, I just whip out a book and read a chapter or two and I'm all better.
That I could do without: The Thorn Birds--I got into so much trouble for reading that book in 8th grade!
Guilty pleasure:Harry Potter, Mary Higgins Clark, and (I'm so embarrassed) Bodice Rippers
Movie
That changed my life: The Karate Kid I figured out that if I was going to get something done, I would have to do it my way... that's good considering I was 7 when it came out!
That I couldn't live without: Dumb and Dumber--No matter what funk I'm in, that can get laughs out of me.
That I could do without: Ghost--I hate that movie-- it scared the beJesus out of me! Heck, I can watch The Ring and it doesn't even bother me, but if someone even suggests watching Ghost I freak out!
Guilty pleasure:Dirty Dancing, Sweet Home Alabama, Speed
Event/Memory
That changed my life: When I decided to take over the college newspaper The Hermes.
That I couldn't live without: Graduating from college!
That I could live without: My brother Aron's accident, and him being lifeflighted, spending one month in the hospital and 2 more months in rehab.
Guilty pleasure: Laying in bed listening to the birds or music on a bright sunny morning.
Music
That changed my life: Garth Brook's The Dance -- I just remember thinking: Man, someday I have to die?!
That I couldn't live without: Anne Murray, Garth Brooks, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Dierks Bentley... anything blue grass or country
That I could do without: HERMAN AND THE HERMITS... geez, my parents took me to that concert when I was like 9 and I refused to go to another concert until the Dierks Bentley one a couple of weeks ago.... also, I dislike a lot of rap and some hip-hop.
Guilty pleasure: Peter, Paul and Mary, Barry Manilow, Alanis Morisette, Matchbox 20
Person
That changed my life: Two of my social studies teachers in high school, Mr. Hardy and Mr. Meyer. They both beleived in me and told me to fight to be who I am.
That I couldn't live without: I suppose as a whole, my family. They did help shape who I am. Oh, and Leah, because she and I read each other's minds. Oh, and Jeff, he's the one who I argue with over politics and... you know this list could go on forever!
That I could do without: I'm a lover, not a hater. But I'll have to venture it to be my mom's real father.
Guilty pleasure: OH HELLO-- right now it's that hot 40-year-old guy in the mall in Sioux City.

"Toni, if you're depressed, don't read that book."
Those words of wisdom were spoken by Jeff, a friend from college with whom I called tonight. The reason he was speaking with wisdom was because I got two books from Leah tonight as a belated Christmas gift. They are The Jungle by Upton Sinclair and Main Street by Sinclair Lewis. I guess The Jungle is a book about depressing affairs during the depression and has to deal with a slaughter house in Chicago.
Now, Leah has read The Jungle and loved it. So, I'll trust her instincts (sorry Jeff!) as she and I are like twins some days and she like Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, and I loved that book, even though I had to read it for LARP.
I drove back to my place today, and am extrememly exhausted. Family, I swear... they wear you out!

An intense mesmorization overcame me when I woke up this morning. I was at the home I grew up in, in bed. The place where I feel safe and comfortable; a place where I know I can be who I want to be. There are no masks to put on, nor daggars to dodge. I am lost in a sea of unusual dimensions.
In bed I have no reminders that I work a respectable job, which leaves little dignity at the end of the day. Nor, do I see the scars of long nights, early mornings, verbal abuse, sexaul harassment, or dashed dreams.
Here, I just see me. The usually shy, talkative, dry humored girl, who sings loud, dances to her own beat, and voices her opinion.
Consequently, by the time I get up, I see the reminders of my work in the mirror.
I see the souless eyes stare back at me as I brush my teeth and contemplate putting my contacts in. There is nothing left in the eyes from constant torment from adults and children alike. I see my dry skin crackle as I grab my hair brush, from constant washing to ward off the last high school virus. My hair, although soft, seems to have been forgotten to be teased, as I am always in a constant rush.
Mostly, I see the smileless face that looks like a ghost. The face has been abandoned. The former self has left, and, in place, a zombie-like creature has entered my body. I do not recognize the lines where smiles once were, I do not see the happy glow I once wore. All I see is a pale, unhappy face intensely staring at itself in the mirror.
I look at it and wonder where the happy person has gone. And immediately I know. She has gone into what is called Survival Mode. Experienced by most 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year teachers, it's a state of utter exhasution, and disorientment. The other two 2nd year teachers are experiencing it, and now I am, too. This is why most teachers leave the profession, and unfortunately it's getting to me. I enjoy my students, and most of the faculty, but I am overwhelmed at the mass of paper, parents, disrespectful students and extra-duties assigned. I know I planned on teaching high school for only a little while, yet it feels like I'll never get out of it, alive anyway.
Vacation doesn't even feel like a vacation, it feels like a prison break; just a little time away from the ball and chain.
Yet, I know the moon will set, the sun will rise from its slumber, and I will be given another day. I don't know what will come of it, but I will need to make a decision; will I dare to dream, or will I drown in tidal waves.

Good Night, or shall I say good morning? An old high school friend was here so I'm going to hit the hay soon. As far as I know, CB is gone, so all is well again. Isn't it funny how you forget some of the little things from just 6 or 7 years ago? I mean, I remember some people glueing my fingers together, but I don't remember hearing how SOMEONE was running around his house in his underwear one night! Or, the time they snuck alcohol on a school function! Those boys, I swear!
In other news, I'm trying to decide if I should go to the doctor again or not. I have a bump on my ankle that has the stress fracture and the entire ankle area hurts. Any suggestions?

The Christmas Bitch has hit.
It's inevitable; sometime during the holiday season she comes, and then leaves, like a flash of lightening. Long enough to be seen by a wide audience and cause pain, yet it's just a short strike. When the Christmas Bitch (CB) comes, it's best to run and hide until she leaves, as the path of destruction is wide and deep. Items may be thrown, relationships broken, and feelings hurt, forever. The devastation is unknown until a few days later.
The CB is a spirit that enters the body, just like the Merry Christmas Spirit does. It is unkown how it gets in, but it does. Once this occurs the CB may not even know that the spirit has entered. The CB will go about everyday activities then at a blink of the eye, a dark cloud will be hanging over the CB and will change her demeanor. She starts to rant and rave about everything she sees. She hates everyone who tries to giver her advice and she has no reason in her brain. The best thing is to leave her alone until she gets over it.
Unfortunately CB was going shopping yesterday when the spirit came, and the force has not left yet. First, some family tried to tell her how she should change things in her classroom, and how she should wait to get a few items-- AND JUST LIKE RIGHT NOW HOW THEY ARE BITCHING ABOUT HOW SHE SHOULD WASH HER CAR BECAUSE THE SALT WILL EAT AWAY AT IT--WELL DUH, SHE KNOWS! OR HOW SHE IS ON THE INTERNET-- FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWO DAYS BECAUSE HER BROTHERS USE IT MORE-- AND THEY WANT TO USE THE PHONE! The CB would now like to apologize for yelling, but you can see what happens at CB's parents house in just about 30 seconds time.
Oh... The CB knows what she wants for her birthday in June, a ticket out of here!

Ok. I'm all warmed up now. Added some Creme de Menthe to my hot chocolate and I'm all better!
As for Christmas, I got a new laptop bag, telephone, Aeropostale sweatshirt, a lilac sweater, a green longsleeve shirt, a Tigger cup, some cashews, beer glasses, juice glasses, underwear, socks, hands free ear thing for my cell, and some other small items I can't remember right off the top of my head.
I have an eye doctor appt. tomorrow morning at 9:30 then we're going to Sioux City to get a few items.
I'm very upset with what's going on in the Gaza Strip; Christmas should be a serene day! I wish them peace and hope for the future.

Merry Christmas!
Ok, well things are going good here at my parents. We're not fighting yet, and tomorrow we're all heading to Sioux City! Yay! I'm going to pick up an electronic dartboard, since I didn't get one for Christmas.
I am freezing at my parent's house! They keep it at the same temp I keep mine at, but it's a different type of heat... plus I don't have my electric blanket here!
I'll be back online later, so I'll give the rundown from Christmas Eve, and morning when we opened up gifts...
OH! I forgot to say on Tuesday that I lost 5 more pounds and about 3 more inches in the past 1-2 months! Not too bad considering it was Thanksgiving and Christmas season!
Lots of Love, and Merry Christmas to all!

Ok, so I lied, here I am. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Yesterday afternoon I finished my Christmas shopping after I got my hair cut. I still have to wrap those, but I"m done. The beauty of shopping on the 23rd is that some of the items I want to get for people are like 50% off, which is what happened yesterday. What would have cost me $30 came to $12!
Other than that I'm just waiting for my laundry to get done, and then I suppose I'll take off to my parents place to get ready for Christmas. This is the first year that I haven't been at my parents place all day for Christmas Eve. It's a little wierd, but I really don't miss it. I mean, all I would be doing is helping to clean and listening to eveyone bicker.

I probably won't be online tomorrow, so I'll say it today!
Apparently I was Scrooge at school today... I guess I'm just not in the Christmas spirit this year. I don't know why, other than it's been a short season, and I've been incredibly busy.
I got my hair cut today, and it's short! Not like the hair massacre of 2001, but it's about an inch below the ears on my longest layer. But, then again, I left it wavy, so it might actually be longer when I straighten it.

What a day!
It started off o.k. Nothing good, nothing bad, then around 2:45 I get this emergency phone call at school. I'm thinking that it's my mom, because she just had bloodwork done, but it wasn't. Alas, it was Leah. She went to LeMars to go to a doctor, and yeah, she got so sick she passed out and had to have someone come and get her.
So, I left school right when the bell rang, and a student gave me a ride to LeMars--Thank goodness! I didn't want to leave my car in LeMars overnight. By the time I got there (around 3:40) Leah was still puking, but they had her laying down on the floor with blankets and a pillow. It took about 20 minutes before I could move her out to her car, and drive her home.
Once we got back home I had to go and get hospitality for the cheerleaders and chicken and rice soup for Leah.
The worst thing about all of this was that I didn't get to go to the Secret Santa shindig. Oh well, there's always next year.
I still have 13 papers to grade before tomorrow morning--not too bad!

I'm a huge procrastinator! I have like 53 two page essays to grade, and I haven't even started. They have to be done by tomorrow, too. And, I've had two weeks to get them done. OOPS! If I had done ten a day, this would have been so much easier.
I finally have gifts under my tree, but they will be gone tomorrow, as I take them to school. The faculty has a Christmas exchange tomorrow, so that's where I'll be tomorrow afternoon, then just one more day until vacation!

What a great day! It started off by me getting into a...drumroll please... size 10 pair of jeans!!! Yeah, I met my Christmas goal. Now, I'll have to set a new goal--thinking size 6 by my birthday in June. Then, I went to Sioux City with John, Jarrod and Leah. And had a ton of fun joking around and talking. Plus, I hung around my brother, Aron who lives in Sioux City.
Tonight I saw a HOT guy. Albeit, he was around 40 and married, he was still hot. He kind of looks like Jeff Daniels, but I was totally attracted to him. I went into the place where he worked like 5 times, and the fourth or so time he was like, well we have another shop down the mall a little bit with different photo's. And I was like, "ok." So, we left with no intention of going to the other shop, and came back about 10 minutes later and I bought the photo from his shop. He then said, "Well, she's buying the photo because of me!" as a worker from the other store was up at his (I think the crush was the owner.) And Leah was like "Yeah, she is." I was red, I'm sure. But, I bought it anyway. The photo is actually beautiful. It's a paiting of a piano room in an victorian setting with a violet and green background. So, it's going in my bedroom as those are my colors.
Ah... those 40ish hot men... why do they have to be married? I'm sure he would love an energetic 23-year-old! And the 23-year-old would really like a nice, down-to-earth older man to be with.
Hey! I need someone older and down-to-earth to calm me down when I get overly hyper!

I left home at 7:25 a.m. today. Had speech practice and taught school. Had a visit with my principal over my evaluation (more later) during my prep period from 1:15-1:35, school ends at 3:10, gave a make up test until 3:35, talked to another teacher until 3:55, went and got stamps and checked mail at 4:10, came home and changed, at 4:20 headed back out to car to go to LeMars to get some items for the game, got back 5:40. Made supper (thank God for Lean Cuisine,) grabbed the items for the game, left at 5:57 for game. 6:01 got to game. 6:25 realized a cheerleader forgot cups, so had to run to Casey's to buy cups. 6:35-8:57 at game. 9:01 opened up my laptop.
I'm still exhausted, but since my evaluation I feel a lot better. I think it was nerves that were partially bothering me. Plus, with Christmas it doesn't help as my family is just as dysfunctional as the Lampoon's.
In my evaluation I learned that the only thing that stands in front of me getting my new full license is my classroom management. No suprise there! I've known that for awhile. I have to go back to being the big, bad, bitch!
Dang, it's hard to beleive that the Dierks Bentley concert was only a week ago!

Have you ever been so tired, you can't sleep? I am.
I finished grading about an hour ago, and I tried to lie down and sleep, and yeah, it didn't work. Now, this might not be such a problem if it weren't for the fact that I'm exhausted, and almost sleeping while I teach. Not to mention Leah came to my room during my prep period and we both just put our heads on desks and tried to sleep.
Crap. Now, maybe I can fall asleep.

Dude, I'm a wuss. I didn't take that sick day. Wish I had, as I'm exhausted, but I didn't. There's too much going on right now to let one day go by. I'm at the beginning of the busiest time. I will be grading until end of semester Jan. 16, have Christmas and New Year's sometime in there, have speech practice, get speech information in, cheerleading, games, FCA, meets, contests, teach CCD, plan out second semester, and maybe get some sleep in there. And this crazy schedule of items will last until at least the end of February. Oh, and I forgot, getting my references and applications into USD for graduate school. And, I try to write or read for at least 20 minutes a day, plus I'm learning guitar.
Man, I think I need a sick day just after reading that.

Just had some carolers, mainly my students, come by and sing me Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer and We Wish you a Merry Christmas. Sometimes it's nice to live in the middle of nowhere in middle America. Ah.. what a simple life I lead!
Very cold, very cold. Need something (or someone) to warm me up! Any suggestions?
Very cold, very cold. Need something (or someone) to warm me up! Any suggestions?
Why am I such an honest person?
I am incredibly tired. Thinking of going to bed at 9 (yes, that's 9 p.m.) I was thinking of taking a sick day tomorrow, but I just can't justify it. I mean, it's not like I'm sick, sick. I'm just tired, and I have so much stuff to do. Plus, then I can't justify going to LeMars and picking up my photos and to exercise.
"The Simple Life" is cracking me up right now. I'm only watching it to see what my students have to say about it, and let's just say, they think Paris and Nicole are the two stupidest people on earth.
I started reading "The Devine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" last night. It's starting off to be a great book. Mom and daughter not getting along. Sounds like Mom and me. Yeah, she's still kind of upset I'm applying to be a grad. school assistant, and maybe not teach high school next year. I mean, it's a slim chance I'll get it anyway.

Ouch. This is not the day to mess with me. Where is that punk ass from CW the other night, I'd sure as hell give him a full mouth tonight I don't know why (maybe PMS) but I'm just not chipper.
One week from tomorrow and I'll be driving home for the holidays. It's weird this year. I haven't been home (unless you count those 3 minutes on Saturday) since Thanksgiving, and I"m really not in the Christmas mood at all. But, I'm sure that will change on Christmas Eve when I make the trip home. Still don't know what I'm doing for New Year's Eve, though.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, Leah volunteered me to go to Sioux City this weekend with her bf, Jarrod, and friend John. Oh happy, happy, joy, joy. I just love going with those two, because they never let me shop for books I want. Plus, they make fun of me for my political views.
I am so happy knowing that I decided not to return to this school!! :) Yay!
The electricity keeps on blinking in and out, and we have no long distance telephone service. Blech. Not to mention that we're in another Winter Storm Warning, and on the way back from LeMars my friend drove 40. There's still about 7 inches of snow on the ground, and now we're getting ice and snow, yay! Hopefully a late start tomorrow! And, thank goodness that I have a notebook, otherwise no Internet for me.
I made the decision today not to sign a contract with the school I'm currently at. I am 95% sure of this. I'm just not happy. I happened to tell a couple of kids when they ticked me off, and boy, did that straighten them up. They like me as a person, just not as an authority figure. Hell, I'm 23, I wouldn't see me as an authority figure either.
What will I do? I'm not sure. I trust God, and I know He'll either give me a stone to stand on, or give me wings to fly.
I feel like I'm going through a mid-life crisis, and I'm freaking only 23 years old. I'm not sure what I want to do with my life as far as a career goes, but I know that I can't find it here in Iowa while teaching. I feel like I'm turning into someone that I don't want to be.
I guess I get tired of the monotony of teaching. Getting up at 6 to be at school around 7:30 teach and have practices until around 5 at night, ball games/meets/contests until 9 p.m. and Saturdays. I have no time for a life, much less a life with anybody else. Even when I'm online, I'm usually looking up things for school, like contest sites, or finding monologues. Or, I just have the Internet on, so noone will call (my cell doesn't always come in at my house) and bug me. Don't get me wrong, I like working with kids, but I'm not sure that I want to do this forever.
I know how the policy goes. I am given one life, and one life to make my dreams come true.
Now, I just need to decide how I want to do it.
SADDAM IS CAPTURED!!
I actually went to bed early last night (11:30) and when I woke up this morning, I got the best news in a long time. HELLO SADDAM--WE NABBED YOU!
Although most of you know that I don't care for Bush, I am happy that we have Saddam. Yet, this should have been done under Bush, Sr., 12 years ago. I am happy knowing that many Iraqi's are in the streets dancing around, so I hope our troops are safe. I will always back the military, even if I don't agree with the administration ideals. GO U.S.A.!
The only thing I worry about is that Saddam is just one of the "look alikes" that he made after we captured Iraq in March--has it been that long! I mean, he had a ton of technology and had doctors come out and say it. I will trust my country and believe that this is the one and only Saddam, who is in OUR custody. Osama, you better watch your back, UNCLE SAM wants you next.
Where to start?
Yesterday I, and a friend I dragged along, left for the Dierks Bentley concert in Lincoln, NE. It had not been a great day, with my evaluations being done this week, and just the stress of school. I ended up with a stress headache around noon and it would not go away! But, we left at 3:50 for Lincoln, anyway. I was not my usual cheery self, as my friend noted about a million times during the night.
The drive down was fine, as I know my way to Lincoln, but had never been in the city of Lincoln. As soon as we got there, we almost got lost when we tried to turn to the hotel and found out there was a cement median there! So, we had to go down a couple more blocks to where I could turn. In the mean time we passed Coyote Willy's (where the concert was going to be) and saw a line up of around 100+ people waiting. So once we got to the hotel, we waited around until 8 and decided we should head down to CW in case of a lineup. Well, it's a good thing we did!
We got to CW and there was no lineup, but there was one major problem: OUR TICKETS HAD BEEN LOST! I couldn't believe it...I had called down two weeks in advance and ordered them and saw them on my credit card. I was SO pissed, and at first the guy up front was not willing to help me at all--And I'm just thinking how mad Judy and Heather will be at me when they get here; my friend could care less, she hates country music, and only came because I paid for the ticket and hotel room-- and I'm standing in the way waiting for like 10 minutes when he finally decides that he should call up to the main office to see if I had actually ordered them. I was like "Here is my credit card--I know I paid for it, just check it with whoever answers the phone!" Well, he did that and we were let in, but told we would have to come back and let the other two in when they arrived.
The first thing I went to go get was a beer, and it was great, but according to my friend, I looked pissed (well, wouldn't you be!?) Then they decide to have the meet and greet with Dierks, and where do you suppose I am for that? Yeah, in the restroom, so I totally missed that! Then Judy and Heather came--it was great to meet people from the board, hope we can do it again!--and I had to tell the guy to let them in.
Eventually the concert started and it kicked ass! :) It was a great variety of songs --everything from Dierks' to Johnny and Hank Jr.--and I really liked Michelle Poe's debut song. I'm going to definitely support her music. Dierks and the gang were funny and full of energy, which made for a great time. You could tell he was having a great time, which was noticable in the end when Deric got on stage!
I did find out that I was not in the mood to be in the middle of the crowd though, as I kept getting shoved out of the way by some big cowboys and their girlfriends who were dirty dancing. Then a beer bottle was thrown/kicked/knocked over/I don't know and it hit my ankle. That was the end of my being in the big crowd. This girl can't afford another fracture in her ankle. So, I left the big crowd and went to the side, where, although not as close, I could see Dierks and the band better. I got a couple of great photos of the band and can't wait to develop them.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet Dierks. He had to leave right after the concert to perform on the Opry tonight. So, we left shortly after the concert as my friend was whining that she was tired and wanted to go sleep. But, if we had stayed, Judy said I might have been able to get a photo as Dierks did come out for a little while. Oh, well, there's always next time.
I fell asleep for about 20 minutes then woke up around 1:20a.m. and needed something to drink, so I went down to get a soda at the hotel dining area and found Judy and Heather there. Wow... what funny girls, I wish I wouldn't have been so groggy! We stayed up and talked about other concerts and photos until 3 then went to bed. It's been a long time since I did that.
Well, we left Lincoln this morning and went to my family Christmas in Dow City. My ears are still ringing from how loud the concert was, but it was worth it. I will definitely be going to another concert!
Ok, well $40 problem from yesterday came to $12, not too bad, and the kids are not mad at me at all, but at the other person, whom we'll call Whoppi. It's hell week for me, as the principal is evaluating me, so if I'm a little off my rocker while I write, we'll blame it on that.
It's f-in' cold out! I can usually take the cold, no problem, but when it's this cold, it makes it hard to even move outside. I think the high for today was supposed to be like 16 and the low was 2... even colder for the next two days... great!
Well, I'm getting things ready for my trip to Lincoln tomorrow night. I need to go print off directions...do laundry...grade some papers... yeah.
And, did I mention it's cold out?!
Ok. Well, today I learned that some people are just plain stupid. Another teacher at the school where I teach did something without reasking me, and yeah, I'm a little upset at them, and will have to pay for the mistake I made on my behalf.
I'm starting to count down the hours until the Dierks Bentley concert! I'm excited to go and see him as I've been on his messageboard since August. And I absolutely LOVE his music, as it's so personal, you know! He is actually one of the big reasons why I started writing songs again.
Well, tomorrow I'm going to go ahead and make a couple of contacts for graduate school. I'm kind of getting excited to apply and go back to school. I love school above and beyond everything else. It's the most fun I have ever had, well besides writing. Writing will always be my first love...I take that back. Men will always be my first love. :)
Went to Madrigal on Sunday night. Leah came and picked me up around 6:10, because Madrigal was supposed to start at 6:30, but it didn't start until 6:45. Well, we had heard in previous years it only lasted for about 2 hours... no problem, but Leah went to night before with her bf, and she said it lasted 3.5 hours... and she was correct, it was 9:55 when we got out of there Sunday night.
The food was excellent... stuffed pork chops, Caesar salad, twice baked potatoes, glazed carrots and (yum!) spice cake with rum sauce!
The singing was good as usual, but with me not feeling well, it dragged on and on and on!
Well, you're probably thinking, "Why is Toni home at 2 in the afternoon?"
That's because it's snowing so bad they let school out at 12:30 and no ball games tonight... and a rumored late start for tomorrow! YAY!!!
I love snow days, where you only have half a day!
Heading out to the Madrigal soon. My sore thoat is now scratchy, but I can't say any soft sounds or aticulate... I know, I know, it's the English teacher in me. I really hope I don't have strep throat, I want to be able to go to the Dierks Bentley concert and drink, because no one I know will really be around.
Here are all the posts from my old site. Enjoy!! My songs and photo's will remain on those other pages for now. If you want to check them out go to http://www.angelfire.com/ia2/tonidianehoffmeier2
11/30/03 Happy Tanksgiving!!
No, that's not a typo, some of us did get tanked over Thanksgiving weekend. Well, at least, bro Aron, Chris and I did Sat night/early Sunday morning.
Well, Wednesday night I had to drive to Denison to get my new contacts, yes they're soft and they're great. I have to go back on the 26th of December to get my other pair. It's been a headache for hte past 6 months, but I finally am through with eye infections/hard contact lenses/scratched eyes that I am wearing toric lenses now. After the eye doctors appointment my parents picked me up (they met me in Denison adn took my car home) and we left for Des Moines, well, actually Carlisle to my aunts house, where she lives with her kids and her boyfriend is there most of the time. Her boyfriend made Thanksgiving dinner and it was awesome!He made something called Ozark pie, and it was so rich, it's my new favorite pie! We went back to my parent's house Thursday night. Friday and Saturday we were working on my parent's house decorating, but Saturday night/early Sunday morning was another thing.
Chris was back (he lives in Kansas now, but was one of mine and Aron's best friends in high school--yes Aron and I shared many of the same friends)and wanted to go to the bar around 12:50 a.m. Sunday morning when he and Aron got back from a party. I was like, whatever, I'll go, because you guys need a DD (THey somehow made it back from teh party by themselves.) So we go down adn Chris buys the first round--Bud Light for everyone. THen CHris is like, "Toni, you have to try a White Russian." I'm like, fine--totally forgetting that addage: Liquer before beer, you're in the clear (or-- never fear). Beer before liquer never been sicker--So I bought the second round and got a White Russian, but they ran out of milk and added more Kahluah and Vodka to make up for it. So I had like 4 oz. of Liquer on top of that beer. Well, after I finish that drink (at this point it was only like 1:30-- we had barely been there for 1/2 an hour) and I was getting giggly, I"m a happy drunk! Chris and I are laughing over stupid stuff we did in h.s. while Aron goes and uses the rest room. Aron then finishes his drink and the next thing I know is that he puts his arms around Chris and I and says: "I'm walking home." Now, we only live about 2 1/2 blocks from teh bar, but I'm not letting him walk home when he's drunk. So, Chris steals his beer and we go home, and I drive.
We get home and we're all talking and I decided to drink some water as I don't really want to become dehydrated and get a hangover. The next thing I know is that the alcohol finally hits me and the room is freaking spinning! My mom was like-- well, you idiot--that's what you get for drinking that much in an hours time. I'm just like: Whatever, and I go off to bed. NOTE: Turn off Christmas lights that are on banister when you're drunk, because they will make you sick while they're "chasing" themselves up the banister.
Anyway, I got up this morning and my mom was like: Who drove home? Aron was like: Toni did, Toni did! Mom was like: But, she was drunk. Toni says: We were all drunk, but I was the least drunk because it didn't have time to hit me until I got home. Amazingly enough, I didn't end up with a hangover or anything... just had to pee really bad when I woke up this morning.
Well, I'm getting ready for another week at the Nut house... oops mean, teaching high school.
God Bless, Toni.
11/19/03--JUST ONE MORE WEEK! ONE MORE WEEK!
Well, I went shopping in Sioux City tonight, yes a school night, because we were bored and are getting paid tomorrow. Anyway, I bought some Superwoman underwear, and a movie called "The Hours," which is about a writer. Can you tell I'm an English teacher?!
Well, last night I had no Internet service, and it about killed me. I missed the DB Chat Attack. And then I decided to go ahead and check my email tonight before we left, right? Well, I logged into MSN Messenger and saw the following name Online:
I was so poor growing up...if I wasn't a boy, I'd have had nothing to play with!
I just sat there and prayed... please don't let that be one of my brothers... please don't let that be one of my...D'OH! It's Brother #2, Aron! Why me? I have grown up in the most perverted family ever, I swear.
Gonna go, gotta write some exams... Toodaloo! Toni Diane :)
11-16-03 Please, God, just eight more days...
Just eight more school days until Thanksgiving break! Yeeha! I can't wait! I've been under a lot of stress lately, first P/T conferences, then my whole last weekend, then my new contacts didn't come in, then som stress at school that I can't talk about on here!
And now, because of all this stess, my heart has decided to palpitate every once in a while! I need a fun break!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
11-09-03 Mom's birthday!
It's been one hell of a weekend. We had a 3 day weekend b/c we had a comp. day on Friday since we held parent teacher conferences Monday and Tuesday night (that's why I haven't posted!)This is incredibly long and I didn't even post all of it!
I intended to go and spend only half of my life savings on a bed so that my ankle won't hurt quite so bad at night b/c I won't toss and turn all the time.
Well, it didn't work out quite like that.
On Friday Mom and Evan had the flu, so Dad and I went to Sioux City and met up with Aron so I could buy a bed. No problems, right? I knew what I wanted, but it turns out that my antique bed frame isn't the right size!!! So once we got it to Marcus we found that out. I was so pissed! But I'm living with it--Dad's going to rig something up for the bed.
Then on Saturday I thought I was just going to go and get my contacts and the eye doctor would check me out. BUT NOOOOO.... See, I haven't been wearing my right contact for about a week or two because it irritated my eye, and I thought it was just because the contact (I wore hard contacts) was the wrong size...EEEEENNHHHHH. Wrong Answer.
The correct answer would be because I scratched my cornea and it became infected. I found this out Saturday morning when I coudldn't get the damn new contact in my eye w/o my eye being in acute pain. So the eye doctor took a look at my eye and after dialating it and dying it about 5 times he found the scrath. He then put a soft contact on it to protect the cornea and I had to put eye drops in evey 1/2 hour. (I had never worn a soft contact before, it was soooo nice!)He told me I probably wouldn't be able to wear hard lenses again, and I told him fine. I don't care about the cost, I WANT SOFT LENSES NOW! I then had to go back the the eye dr. today (he was nice enough to drive the 50 miles to the office this morning) to get the contact taken out and see if the scratch had healed some. And it had. So now, just drops 4 times a day. But dude, those new contacts I'm going to get are going to be costly...
On Saturday night I had the pleasure of almost being sat on by a drunk guy who decided to sit in the pew with Mom, Dad, bro Aron and I. He reeked of whisky and was loud and annoying. He was also cussing in church. One time after he sneezed about 6 times I saw him stick his finger on the floor and feel his pile of mucus. Thank goodness I had to go and put eye drops in my eye at that time, I didn't want to know if he put that finger in his mouth or not. I just wanted away from him. B/c I went to put the drops in, Aron ended up sitting next to him. To make a long story short. Aron had to pull his hand away from the drunk guy after "Our Father" and then had to avoid being kissed by the drunkard during the peace offereing. Ah... being Roman Catholic!
Then we're to today. I did go back to the eye doctor. And, he is kinda cute, but married, so it was nice to see him. Then I decided it was time to come back to where I live and leave my parents house. Well, I tried anyway. My Grand Prix broke down. I made it to Rickettes (about 4 miles away) when I heard thumping from my tires. At first I thought I had hit something, but it was happeing with each rotation. I had my cell with me so I called home and they said check the lug nuts, and I did, but they were'nt loose. So we took the car back home and Dad jacked it up to see what was wrong with it. The wheel bearing is coming off, so I am now driving my parent's Buick. It sucks compared to my sports car. It really really really really sucks.Plus it's going to cost up the ying yang.
What a craptacular weekend!

10/28/03 9:27 p.m. Okay. Grades are in!
I am sooooo intensely happy right now! I'm all giggly and happy right now. And probably will be until 8:25 a.m. tomorrow...when school starts.
I was thinking last night (between grading papers) would my 15 year old self be mad at me right now for the choices I have made?
I mean, Is this where I evisioned myself to at age 23? No, it's definitely not.
Would I be embarrassed that all of those big dreams I've had are not happening?
Would I be ashamed that I haven't chased my dream, but instead chose to stay close to home, because I was scared?
Would I be disappointed to know that I'm still chubby?
Or that I still have an attitude sometimes, yet am a very cheery, almost too nice of a person.
Would I be disappointed to know all of this?
Probably yes, and no. I woudln't want to go through all of hte pain I've endured the past 8 years again. Yet, do I wish I could go back and feel so alive again? Yes! Everyday! I miss knowing that the whole world is ahead of me, and that I am invincible.
I now know that I'm not invincible.
But, I do know that I do have the whole world ahead of me, and that I can still do everything I wanted to do as a 15-year-old chubby brunette.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/23/03 9:20 p.m. Early post, I know, but I have to grade (end of quarter is tmw) and wait for a phone call. Note: Phone call has to do with the CCD Youth Rally I'm supervising, not a guy :(
I quit teaching confirmation last night. They pissed me off, so then the lady in charge was like... hey wanna take the 11th and 12th graders, and I was like, "Sure will, cuz I'm a sucker for kids!" So I am still teaching CCD, but a more mature group.
O.K. so I figured out the name of the condition I have; Chronic Rhinitis with Post Nasal Drip. It sounds icky, I know, but at least there's a name for it!
I need to find a new, good book. I can't find one. I need to go and exercise some more, and hopefully Amy will be there so I can find out about new exercises and some diets.
Good night and God Bless, Toni.
10/21/03 11:10 p.m. Wow! What a week thus far and it's only Tuesday!
I went back to the doctor today, and for once it wasn't for my stress fracture! I went for my allergies. I have a condition where my nose dries up and all of the liquid from my nasal cavaties drains into my throat and bronchial tubes (the ones to the lungs--so I get athsma like breathing.) So, today they had to put me back on Flonase, while still taking my Clarinex, plus I have to inhale nasal saline every two hours. I also have to drink 64+ oz. of water a day! A DAY! I'm not going to be able to make it through class w/o running to the rest room! I usually only drink about 4-6 glasses a day, but 8+.. wow! Additionally, I need to sleep. I've been getting 6-7 (which is way more than normal for me) but she said I should get more b/c my meds will wear me out. If my allergies get worse they will put me on antibiotics to make sure a virus hasn't invaded my body. I was given the choice today, but I chose to wait until later, in case I get better.
As far as my ankle, I found out that I had ligment damage as well. Great. I guess I can count on arthritis after all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/13/03 I have NEVER had a hangover last this long. I feel like my stomach is still doing flip-flops, but that may be because I decided to have Mexcian food for supper... I'm gonna go read b/c it's flippin' cold and I'm tired. On a side note, I sent my first student to the office today.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/12/03 Long time no see.
My nose is all stuffy, I think I have a cold, or else my hangover is getting worse. Yes, I said hangover. I am feeling not so good right now. You see, I haven't really been able to drink for awhile (ankle stress fracture-- which still hurts) and last night at Tiff and Ryan's wedding I drank 7 Bud Lights, champagne and some Captain and Coke in about a 3 hour period. This is the first time I have ever been so blinding drunk that I have lapses in my memories. I just have blanks for half of the night. And I've been told that I did some freaky stuff! I named Ted a car god, and for some reason signed a piece of paper stating that I was going to do some crazy ass stuff. Dude! Evan has the piece of paper and I need to get it back!
Leah's bf is a fucking retard and I don't like him.
Good night and God Bless, Toni.
10/08/03 Lets see... what's happened lately?
I can't really think of much that's going on. I'm tried. I'm really disliking school b/c of the atmosphere of the administration and the like. Some kids are being rediculously stupid, and trying to anger me constantly.
I DID GET MY GUITAR TODAY! I'm going to start learning how to play actual stuff soon! Yay! Exercising is going great! I love it!
Tonight for CCD we had a program on abortion. I USED to be leaning towards the side of Pro-Abortion, but now I'm definitely Pro-Life. I saw an aborted baby. I saw where they put the aborted baby. I saw what a fetus looks like at 12 weeks--not much different from 30 weeks--not much different from full term of 40 weeks. I now know why my Catholic faith has lead me to be a CCD teacher. My class already came up to me and asked to have a discussion on abortion. The only problem is that they think I know everything about it, when I obviously don't! I DO HAVE TO ADD that the most appaling portion of the program involved comparing hte number of babies that died on Sept. 11, 2001 to that of who died in the Terrorist Bombings-- 4,000 babies to 3,500 civilians. OH AND GET THIS-- they had an illustration done in this ratio---- 1 red body: 25,000 persons. This ratio was used for all of hte wars in US history (up to the Vietnam conflict.) Lets just say all of hte wars took only 3/4 of a page, where as the abortion PAGES took like 15-20 feet oustreached, and it was on like 11 pages. THAT MANY MILLION CHILDREN HAVE DIED DUE TO ABORTION-- THAT'S MORE THAN ALL OF THE WARS IN US HISTORY!
Good night and God Bless, Toni.
10/05/03 9:50 p.m. Ah... beer, a nice cold Bud Light is running through my veins. lol It's the first beer I've had since before I hurt my ankle a month ago! No more pain meds for me!
I went to school, but on the way stopped to help Leah put on storm windows (I did mine a couple of weeks ago.) Well, the Japanese Beetles were out in full force today along with black bugs which bite. ew... it was so bad trying to get those windows on when your arms are stinging and you have bites all over. Plus the beetles smell bad. It was very nice out today, around 80, but I wonder how long the Indian Summer will last. It makes me wonder what kind of winter we're going to have if it's still this warm in October.
BTW I have the photo gallery up (the link is at the bottom of the page.)
I think I'll go and write some tonight. Good night and God Bless, Toni.
10/04/03 11:35 p.m. Dude. What. A. Day!
There's a really cool song on the radio right now, it's called "What Was I Thinin'" by Dierks Bentley. It's so funny! I have his CD, and it's great. I recommend everyone who likes country or blue grass (like yours truly) should get it a.s.a.p.!
Anyway, back to my day. Leah and I headed to Sioux City today to look for dresses for Tiff & Ryan's wedding. And guess what we came back with? NAVAL RINGS. Yes, as in, I now have a hole in my belly button. Needless to say, we didn't get the dresses--in fact--there's a whole story as to why.
I have no problem seeing blood, but then again I am a Class A clutz, so I see it a lot. Leah, on the other hand, doesn't do blood well. We got our navals pierced then the next thing I know is that as she's drving down 4th St. in Sioux City (towards Pierce) she's like, I'm feeling light headed, you have to drive. As soon as she got into the passengers seat she freaking passed out on me! She started to wave hands in the air and make funny noises. About a minute later she came to and we waited in a loading lane until she felt good enough to move again. I had to drive the rest of hte day, but she has an SUV so that was cool. We got to the mall fine, but she felt ill, so I had to pull over so she could puke. Then some stupid people decided to park behind us (I was parked illegally--when someone says they have to puke you PULL over!) and instead of being hte nice Christian person I am I didn't didn't tell them to move b/c they weren't in a parking spot. Instead, I was more worried that Leah was going to puke and then pass out again.
Eventually we made it into the mall and ate at Garfield's where she puked somemore. But we didn't shop long b/c she wasn't feeling well.
The only thing I really told her was taht she's lucky I have a strong stomach. Other friends would not have watched you puke and pass out without freaking out. She then had the guts to call me later tonight and yell at me because I called Leah's boyfriend) and told him to call her later on to makes sure she was ok. Which, he actually did, considering he is a pompass jerk.)
I'm really tired so I think I'll hit the hay. I'll be spending part of tmw at school-- Good night and God Bless, Toni.
10/04/03 12:50 a.m. HOMECOMING IS OFFICIALLY OVER! I just finished chaperoning the homecoming dance, and all that's left is cleaning up Sunday evening! Yeah!
It's been a long couple of days. Wednesday I had to go and get supplies and teach confirmation. Thursday night I got back from school at 10:00 p.m. I'm not kidding either. We decorated the entire school and had coronation. I had to give a speech about the cheerleaders and then be in the faculty skit. The faculty gave a TOP 10 LIST of reasons why we'll win homecoming. Mine was #9 and I had to say "Because our cheerleaders have hte best nails in district 1!" It was lame, but oh well!
Friday morning the cheerleaders put on the annual breakfast for the football players, faculty and senior X-Country, and volleyball players. We had to be at the school by 7 a.m. Now, did you stop to realize taht we didn't get home until 10:00 p.m. the night before!
See why it's been a long week!
We did win the game and the dance was ok. There was a lot of PDA (public display of affection) going on, so we had to continually monitor the floor. This really wasn't different for me bacuse I"m usually dancing on the floor with the kids anyway. I did learn a new dance though, and it has the cha cha in it.
Well, I think I'll check email then hit the hay! Good night & God Bless, Toni
09/30/03 Dude, am I ever tired.
ANKLE UPDATE: Sore, but getting better! It gets really sore when it's exposed to cold air, and if I exercise really hard, but it's getting better. I have been doing my strength training on it, and hope it will be as good as new in a couple months. :)
It's homecoming week, which for teachers is one hellacious week because the kids are wound up, and with the little "problem" at school it's just making it worse.
Due to the "problem" at school, I went and bought some mace tonight so I will always be safe from the person(s) involved in the incident. I know what I'm doing is right, and I refuse to become a victim. I also have not been sleeping at night since the "problem" began, so I bought some "Simply Sleep" from the makers of Tylenol (c), which should get me more than 3 hours of sleep tonight. Sweet.
Leah and I dressed up as twins today for homecoming. It was fun! We wore khakis, sketchers, ankle socks, and our plaid red buttonup shirts. It was a blast when we were standing next to each other because it was soooo evident!
Good night and God Bless--Toni
09/29/03--It's been a long weekend!
On Saturday a friend from college came up and he went to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival with me and my British Literature class, plus a chaperone. We stayed in a hotel and had a little bit of fun, but really it was a lot of giggling.
The fair was not quite as fun as what it was in August. Maybe because I had just been there, but I think it's because it was so freaking cold! Dude, I was a FFRRREEEEZZING! Even after the football game Friday night, I thought I would be better, but I had my cheer coach jaket on and gloves and a headband earmuff thing-a-ma-bob.
Not much else going on. I'm not worried about my job at all right now. I've promised the rest of the faculty not to leave based on what's going on, and they promised to back me 100%.
Today was long, dude! I didn't get much sleep Saturday night, because the girls kept me up (and we found out that we all talk in our sleep.) Then last night after the four and a half hour drive I got back to Marcus around 7:30 and talked to Leah until like 11:30 or 12. Then I crashed on my bed, and 6:00 a.m. came WAY too early!
Speaking of talking in your sleep, apparently, I talk in my sleep. The girls said I was giving a lecture, asking questions and making lesson plans. FUNNY! They, on the other hand, were talking about the wierdest things, such as taking dogs for walks, going to wierd places, etc.
Not much else to add, other than I went to my youngest brothers football game tonight and they lost, but I got a picture with him.
Good night, and God Bless--Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/26/03 11:57 p.m. I'm getting smarter. I tried to post the 09/26 message earlier and it froze up on me again, and the page closed. I remembered to copy the text before I saved. Dude! I'm learnin'!
09/26/03 11:20 p.m. I'm doing better today. The thing I was worried about getting fired for, I'm not so concerned with now. I'll just keep it at that for right now, but please keep me in your prayers.
I just got back from a football game with my cheerleaders.We won! They were so funny tonight! One of the girls fell on her butt as she went to do a kick! We all just laughed it off. I'm in a better smiling mood today! It was so funny after I got done taking to the superintendent in his office, the secretary came up and gave me a hug and said "You're all smiles, I'm proud of you. If I had to go in there and have the door closed, I'd be scared." Yeah, it just proves I do have some guts. But not many, I make the principal go with me! :)
Well, my British Lit. class is supposed to be going to the Renaissance festival in MN. I have a hotel rented for us, and hopefully my best friend from college can come and be the male chaperone. I need to call him back yet tonight.
Well, take care and God Bless! Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/25/03 I'm crying...still. I'm doing something that is right in my mind, but I might get fired for it.
Please pray for me.
I want to talk about it, but can't on here. If you want to know, Email me.
Thank you, and God Bless, Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/24/03 I am a glutton for punishment.
I just agreed to teach Catholic confirmation classes for the rest of the year. Yes, Leah and I are gluttons for punishment. So, those sophomores get to see our two bueatiful smiling faces 6 times or more per week. At CCD tonight we also agreed to go to the Youth Rally on Oct. 26th and to take the CCD Teacher's Class in Remsen on the 22nd.
Midterm at public school was today and I didn't go to bed last night until 2:05 a.m. I was up writing exams and grading and just couldn't sleep. I kept on thinking about that one student situation. So, today I talked to the counselor and decided that it's time to do something, so I talked to the student. I told the student that I'm available to him or her whenever needed. The student has my phone numbers and will call if any problems arise, which makes me feel much better tonight.
We went to look at guitars tonight at the pawn shop in LeMars. Leah was looking at a bass for her guitar collection and I'm planning to start off on an acoustic. I was told I might be able to get a left-handed guitar for around $150. Not too shabby! So, cross your fingers I can get some more information when I check back with the guy tomorrow.
I haven't taken my shower yet, so I'm going to do that, listen to music, probably write some, and maybe go to bed.
Just kidding, I will go to bed! Early, too, I swear! Good night & God Bless, Toni.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/23/03 9:34 p.m. Today was a good day! I was back to my all smiles attitude! Yay! The kids were much happier and so was I!
Not much happened in school, other than I met with principal and he and I agreed to get together about every three weeks to work on my portfolio to get my next teaching license. I also have to work on getting my masters degree papers in. So much work! Plus, tomorrow is midterm at school so I have grades due. Which means I'm procrasinating as I also have two tests to write, prepare for pictures tomorrow and grade, grade, grade! I LOVE IT! lol.
I went to get some more Clarinex (allergy meds) today, under the new insurance. Oh, my, goodness. $30 for thirty days worth of pills! I must have had a funny look on my face because the lady said, "Well, atleast it's not the $80 you would have to pay if you didn't have insurance." I was like, "Dude, I don't think so. I would then be suffering on Bendaryl for $5, even though it vacuums, and I feel awful on it." I then thought about how lucky I am to have my job, and realize taht I have a deductible on meds.
As everyone has probably noticed by now, the lady bugs are invading, which means that it's about to get VERY COLD OUT! Oh, my goodness, after spending part of the summer in Texas, Iowa feels cold!
Good night, God Bless -- Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/22/03 9:12 p.m. My poor students. They knew I was in a bad mood to begin with this morning (see last nights post), and boy did I let them have it. I'm feeling a little sorry after today. I might actually have to get some candy for them... OOPS!
Leah and I were bad today! We came back from LeMars and I was like, "Dude! There's still pizza in the 'fridge up at school." So we went up and stole the pizza out of the teacher's lounge (while a board meeting was going on in the library) and ate it. It was THE WORST pizza I've ever had,hard and dry, but hey, I didn't have to pay for it, and it would have been thrown out tomorrow anyway. We were good though, we chased it down with Kool Aid (TM) instead of beer!
I really liked my hair today! It was nice and soft and the shorter layers are easier to straighten in the morning. Damn those waves! No, I was almost in tears after it was cut on Saturday, but I actually like it.
Ankle Update: Sore, but walkable. I'm wearing the ace bandage to bed, and the gel brace to school. Today I actually wore a nice blue skirt, so everyone could see the brace, but hey, they all know I have it, so it's no big deal.
4 days until the weekend!
Good night and God Bless, Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/21/03 I am not in a good mood today. I was doing fine until I went to school and did some grading of writing journals. I can't go into the details due to legal matters, but let's just say that I can't beleive what some of my students go through with thier families. It just torques me off to see how some people treat others, and that they *THINK* they have the freaking right to do it. Ugh. The nerve of some people.
Sometimes I forget how lucky I was to grow up in a nice, for the most part, loving family.
Here's my daily ankle update...I love these, lol...To be honest, it's quite sore. I know that I am able to go back to exercising and running and the like, but I think I shouldn't have hit it so hard yesterday. I think I would have been fine had I just worked out and not played volleyball at FCA, but I am just so happy to be active again, that I really don't care. I'll probably try and take it easy for the rest of tonight and then go to the gym tomorrow night.
Well, tomorrow Leah and I are going to go and look for a guitar. She has one, and Chris has one, so I'm the only second year teacher without one, so we're going to go looking.
BTW, it's Banned Books Week. Read a book that was once banned.
My Longorns are in the top 15, yay!
Good night, and God Bless, Toni
09/20/03 11:40 p.m.
I'm tired. I stayed up late last night to read, and woke up early this morning. I did manage to get to the gym before it closed, my hair cut (again! This is twice in six weeks!), and made it to church for the blessing of the catechist. Plus, we had a home football game tonight and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes.) I left FCA early because I"m tired and now I'm writing here. How lucky for me!
For some stupid reason my sophomore boys think I'm pregnant. They keep on asking me what I'm going to name my baby. I think it's because my clothes have become a little bit baggy on me, but I"m not sure...they're just being stupid. Anyway, I'm not. There is no way, no how, I could be, so I just try to ignore them. I mean, c'mon I'm not even dating anyone right now!
I should go read and finish that book and take out my contacts. Good night and God Bless!
Toni
09/19/03 Ok, we all know my HTML is very limited, so please bear with me as I relearn how to code my website. Life is finally starting to speed up some more! But, I have this Friday night off from coaching cheerleading because the game is tomorrow night for some reason. I'm not going to complain, it's nice to have a Friday off, since I know where I'll be for the next 7 or so!
Ok, It's official, I WILL post those new songs I wrote on the other page, but PLEASE BE KIND-- I have feelings you know! I think that's what makes me so scared to show what I write, and the main reason I haven't really moved anywhere or done anything to get my songs out there and noticed. I'm hoping to buy a guitar from the pawn shop in Le Mars, though.
Oh! I am incredibly excited! I got to start exercising again last night and today, and I'm going to the gym again tomorrow! My ankle is a little sore right now, but hey, I'll live with it since I can get up and move around again! I do have to leave the gel brace on for another week, and for the rest of my life when I exercise, but if it keeps the pain away, why not?! Mom figures I will have arthritis in it b/c it hurt yesterday at the meeting, but I think it was just sympathy pain for her arthritis.
Well, I think I'll go and work on the songs and putting them onto the other page! :) Good night and God Bless! Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/17/03 10:38 I just lost my update. Crap. Anyway, I'm sooooo sorry I haven't updated for awhile. You would think with my bummed ankle I would have more time for this, but alas, I don't, because for some odd reason I've been writing in my hand writing journal.
It's been a long two weeks! I can't do steps, I can't run, I can't jump, I can't workout, I can't walk far, I can't, I can't, I can't! I keep hearing those words over and over again! I just want to be able to get up and do stuff again! I still have no idea how I sprained my ankle so bad, but they really think I have a stress fracture that didn't show up on X-rays (which by the way, for those of you who know my and know I'm a Class A clutz, those were my first set of non-dental X-Rays, and first trip to hospital, even though I was never admitted to the hospital b/c the ARNP sent me there after our little visit.) Now, I know that if I had gone when the sprain occured, and not waited one week, I would have healed faster. I am excited though, because tomorrow is the last day I have to wear both the ace wrap and the ankle brace. On Friday I go back to just the gel brace, which I will have to wear for 1-2 more weeks and for the rest of my life when I exercise.
I've been writing more songs and poems over the last couple of weeks. I have many that I'm very proud of, but still don't want to share them here yet. I get very nervous about my writing, because it's so personal to me and if people hate it, I think that they hate me. Maybe I'll post it on the other site for those who really want to read it.
Well, I was rounded into teaching CCD for 5 weeks, and tonight was my first night. I was with the same group that I have at school, so we really didn't have much to go over as far as rules and the like. I really like being able to talk about God, Jesus and Mary in the classroom. It's refresing to hear how students relate to thier religion, also! I loved it! I can't wait for next week!
Do you know what I learned today? I really like using exclamation marks when I write here, in my journal and to other people. I wonder why?!
Anywho, I should get ready for bed-- mentor meeting tmw!
Good night, and God Bless,
Toni

07/31/03 Ok, I'm back in business. For those of you who don't know, I forgot my battery charger at my parents house and couldn't use my laptop up in Marcus without it!
A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE
Ok, so I've been thinking about the 5 years since leaving high school. What were the good/funny/embarrassing things that happened in high school? Here's a short list, let me know what ones you think of...
1.) The guys constantly dropping thier pants whenever Tonya and I walked into a room.
2.) O.M.
3.) Being accused of ARSON-- So not funny
4.) Raingutternose
5.) Naked Tree Lady movie and my friends making me walk outside after the movie, by myself at Chris' house, next to a field.
6.) When I had to turn in people on the pep bus for smoking or risk losing my friends and my job as head cheerleader.
7.) Making cookies at Cheerleader bakeoffs-- you don't even want to know how often we licked our fingers when we made those.
8.)Community Theater when I played the very german Elsa and had to use an accent.
MORE TO COME, BUT MOM IS BUGGING ME TO GO PLAY BADMINTON at 7:31 p.m...... back at 9:03 p.m.
9.) ANNIE ANNIE... I got to put a mouse down Louise's shirt when our school did Annie.
10.) When Aron, Chris, Jesse and Luke thought it would be funny to watch me ZAP A GAP my fingers together at O.M.
11.) Email me some more of them and I will put them up.

11/30/03 Happy Tanksgiving!!
No, that's not a typo, some of us did get tanked over Thanksgiving weekend. Well, at least, bro Aron, Chris and I did Sat night/early Sunday morning.
Well, Wednesday night I had to drive to Denison to get my new contacts, yes they're soft and they're great. I have to go back on the 26th of December to get my other pair. It's been a headache for hte past 6 months, but I finally am through with eye infections/hard contact lenses/scratched eyes that I am wearing toric lenses now. After the eye doctors appointment my parents picked me up (they met me in Denison adn took my car home) and we left for Des Moines, well, actually Carlisle to my aunts house, where she lives with her kids and her boyfriend is there most of the time. Her boyfriend made Thanksgiving dinner and it was awesome!He made something called Ozark pie, and it was so rich, it's my new favorite pie! We went back to my parent's house Thursday night. Friday and Saturday we were working on my parent's house decorating, but Saturday night/early Sunday morning was another thing.
Chris was back (he lives in Kansas now, but was one of mine and Aron's best friends in high school--yes Aron and I shared many of the same friends)and wanted to go to the bar around 12:50 a.m. Sunday morning when he and Aron got back from a party. I was like, whatever, I'll go, because you guys need a DD (THey somehow made it back from teh party by themselves.) So we go down adn Chris buys the first round--Bud Light for everyone. THen CHris is like, "Toni, you have to try a White Russian." I'm like, fine--totally forgetting that addage: Liquer before beer, you're in the clear (or-- never fear). Beer before liquer never been sicker--So I bought the second round and got a White Russian, but they ran out of milk and added more Kahluah and Vodka to make up for it. So I had like 4 oz. of Liquer on top of that beer. Well, after I finish that drink (at this point it was only like 1:30-- we had barely been there for 1/2 an hour) and I was getting giggly, I"m a happy drunk! Chris and I are laughing over stupid stuff we did in h.s. while Aron goes and uses the rest room. Aron then finishes his drink and the next thing I know is that he puts his arms around Chris and I and says: "I'm walking home." Now, we only live about 2 1/2 blocks from teh bar, but I'm not letting him walk home when he's drunk. So, Chris steals his beer and we go home, and I drive.
We get home and we're all talking and I decided to drink some water as I don't really want to become dehydrated and get a hangover. The next thing I know is that the alcohol finally hits me and the room is freaking spinning! My mom was like-- well, you idiot--that's what you get for drinking that much in an hours time. I'm just like: Whatever, and I go off to bed. NOTE: Turn off Christmas lights that are on banister when you're drunk, because they will make you sick while they're "chasing" themselves up the banister.
Anyway, I got up this morning and my mom was like: Who drove home? Aron was like: Toni did, Toni did! Mom was like: But, she was drunk. Toni says: We were all drunk, but I was the least drunk because it didn't have time to hit me until I got home. Amazingly enough, I didn't end up with a hangover or anything... just had to pee really bad when I woke up this morning.
Well, I'm getting ready for another week at the Nut house... oops mean, teaching high school.
God Bless, Toni.

11/19/03--JUST ONE MORE WEEK! ONE MORE WEEK!
Well, I went shopping in Sioux City tonight, yes a school night, because we were bored and are getting paid tomorrow. Anyway, I bought some Superwoman underwear, and a movie called "The Hours," which is about a writer. Can you tell I'm an English teacher?!
Well, last night I had no Internet service, and it about killed me. I missed the DB Chat Attack. And then I decided to go ahead and check my email tonight before we left, right? Well, I logged into MSN Messenger and saw the following name Online:
I was so poor growing up...if I wasn't a boy, I'd have had nothing to play with!
I just sat there and prayed... please don't let that be one of my brothers... please don't let that be one of my...D'OH! It's Brother #2, Aron! Why me? I have grown up in the most perverted family ever, I swear.
Gonna go, gotta write some exams... Toodaloo! Toni Diane :)

11-16-03 Please, God, just eight more days...
Just eight more school days until Thanksgiving break! Yeeha! I can't wait! I've been under a lot of stress lately, first P/T conferences, then my whole last weekend, then my new contacts didn't come in, then som stress at school that I can't talk about on here!
And now, because of all this stess, my heart has decided to palpitate every once in a while! I need a fun break!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
11-09-03 Mom's birthday!
It's been one hell of a weekend. We had a 3 day weekend b/c we had a comp. day on Friday since we held parent teacher conferences Monday and Tuesday night (that's why I haven't posted!)This is incredibly long and I didn't even post all of it!
I intended to go and spend only half of my life savings on a bed so that my ankle won't hurt quite so bad at night b/c I won't toss and turn all the time.
Well, it didn't work out quite like that.
On Friday Mom and Evan had the flu, so Dad and I went to Sioux City and met up with Aron so I could buy a bed. No problems, right? I knew what I wanted, but it turns out that my antique bed frame isn't the right size!!! So once we got it to Marcus we found that out. I was so pissed! But I'm living with it--Dad's going to rig something up for the bed.
Then on Saturday I thought I was just going to go and get my contacts and the eye doctor would check me out. BUT NOOOOO.... See, I haven't been wearing my right contact for about a week or two because it irritated my eye, and I thought it was just because the contact (I wore hard contacts) was the wrong size...EEEEENNHHHHH. Wrong Answer.
The correct answer would be because I scratched my cornea and it became infected. I found this out Saturday morning when I coudldn't get the damn new contact in my eye w/o my eye being in acute pain. So the eye doctor took a look at my eye and after dialating it and dying it about 5 times he found the scrath. He then put a soft contact on it to protect the cornea and I had to put eye drops in evey 1/2 hour. (I had never worn a soft contact before, it was soooo nice!)He told me I probably wouldn't be able to wear hard lenses again, and I told him fine. I don't care about the cost, I WANT SOFT LENSES NOW! I then had to go back the the eye dr. today (he was nice enough to drive the 50 miles to the office this morning) to get the contact taken out and see if the scratch had healed some. And it had. So now, just drops 4 times a day. But dude, those new contacts I'm going to get are going to be costly...
On Saturday night I had the pleasure of almost being sat on by a drunk guy who decided to sit in the pew with Mom, Dad, bro Aron and I. He reeked of whisky and was loud and annoying. He was also cussing in church. One time after he sneezed about 6 times I saw him stick his finger on the floor and feel his pile of mucus. Thank goodness I had to go and put eye drops in my eye at that time, I didn't want to know if he put that finger in his mouth or not. I just wanted away from him. B/c I went to put the drops in, Aron ended up sitting next to him. To make a long story short. Aron had to pull his hand away from the drunk guy after "Our Father" and then had to avoid being kissed by the drunkard during the peace offereing. Ah... being Roman Catholic!
Then we're to today. I did go back to the eye doctor. And, he is kinda cute, but married, so it was nice to see him. Then I decided it was time to come back to where I live and leave my parents house. Well, I tried anyway. My Grand Prix broke down. I made it to Rickettes (about 4 miles away) when I heard thumping from my tires. At first I thought I had hit something, but it was happeing with each rotation. I had my cell with me so I called home and they said check the lug nuts, and I did, but they were'nt loose. So we took the car back home and Dad jacked it up to see what was wrong with it. The wheel bearing is coming off, so I am now driving my parent's Buick. It sucks compared to my sports car. It really really really really sucks.Plus it's going to cost up the ying yang.
What a craptacular weekend!
10/28/03 9:27 p.m. Okay. Grades are in!
I am sooooo intensely happy right now! I'm all giggly and happy right now. And probably will be until 8:25 a.m. tomorrow...when school starts.
I was thinking last night (between grading papers) would my 15 year old self be mad at me right now for the choices I have made?
I mean, Is this where I evisioned myself to at age 23? No, it's definitely not.
Would I be embarrassed that all of those big dreams I've had are not happening?
Would I be ashamed that I haven't chased my dream, but instead chose to stay close to home, because I was scared?
Would I be disappointed to know that I'm still chubby?
Or that I still have an attitude sometimes, yet am a very cheery, almost too nice of a person.
Would I be disappointed to know all of this?
Probably yes, and no. I woudln't want to go through all of hte pain I've endured the past 8 years again. Yet, do I wish I could go back and feel so alive again? Yes! Everyday! I miss knowing that the whole world is ahead of me, and that I am invincible.
I now know that I'm not invincible.
But, I do know that I do have the whole world ahead of me, and that I can still do everything I wanted to do as a 15-year-old chubby brunette.
10/23/03 9:20 p.m. Early post, I know, but I have to grade (end of quarter is tmw) and wait for a phone call. Note: Phone call has to do with the CCD Youth Rally I'm supervising, not a guy :(
I quit teaching confirmation last night. They pissed me off, so then the lady in charge was like... hey wanna take the 11th and 12th graders, and I was like, "Sure will, cuz I'm a sucker for kids!" So I am still teaching CCD, but a more mature group.
O.K. so I figured out the name of the condition I have; Chronic Rhinitis with Post Nasal Drip. It sounds icky, I know, but at least there's a name for it!
I need to find a new, good book. I can't find one. I need to go and exercise some more, and hopefully Amy will be there so I can find out about new exercises and some diets.
Good night and God Bless, Toni.
10/21/03 11:10 p.m. Wow! What a week thus far and it's only Tuesday!
I went back to the doctor today, and for once it wasn't for my stress fracture! I went for my allergies. I have a condition where my nose dries up and all of the liquid from my nasal cavaties drains into my throat and bronchial tubes (the ones to the lungs--so I get athsma like breathing.) So, today they had to put me back on Flonase, while still taking my Clarinex, plus I have to inhale nasal saline every two hours. I also have to drink 64+ oz. of water a day! A DAY! I'm not going to be able to make it through class w/o running to the rest room! I usually only drink about 4-6 glasses a day, but 8+.. wow! Additionally, I need to sleep. I've been getting 6-7 (which is way more than normal for me) but she said I should get more b/c my meds will wear me out. If my allergies get worse they will put me on antibiotics to make sure a virus hasn't invaded my body. I was given the choice today, but I chose to wait until later, in case I get better.
As far as my ankle, I found out that I had ligment damage as well. Great. I guess I can count on arthritis after all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/12/03 Long time no see.
My nose is all stuffy, I think I have a cold, or else my hangover is getting worse. Yes, I said hangover. I am feeling not so good right now. You see, I haven't really been able to drink for awhile (ankle stress fracture-- which still hurts) and last night at Tiff and Ryan's wedding I drank 7 Bud Lights, champagne and some Captain and Coke in about a 3 hour period. This is the first time I have ever been so blinding drunk that I have lapses in my memories. I just have blanks for half of the night. And I've been told that I did some freaky stuff! I named Ted a car god, and for some reason signed a piece of paper stating that I was going to do some crazy ass stuff. Dude! Evan has the piece of paper and I need to get it back!
Leah's bf is a fucking retard and I don't like him.
Good night and God Bless, Toni.
10/08/03 Lets see... what's happened lately?
I can't really think of much that's going on. I'm tried. I'm really disliking school b/c of the atmosphere of the administration and the like. Some kids are being rediculously stupid, and trying to anger me constantly.
I DID GET MY GUITAR TODAY! I'm going to start learning how to play actual stuff soon! Yay! Exercising is going great! I love it!
Tonight for CCD we had a program on abortion. I USED to be leaning towards the side of Pro-Abortion, but now I'm definitely Pro-Life. I saw an aborted baby. I saw where they put the aborted baby. I saw what a fetus looks like at 12 weeks--not much different from 30 weeks--not much different from full term of 40 weeks. I now know why my Catholic faith has lead me to be a CCD teacher. My class already came up to me and asked to have a discussion on abortion. The only problem is that they think I know everything about it, when I obviously don't! I DO HAVE TO ADD that the most appaling portion of the program involved comparing hte number of babies that died on Sept. 11, 2001 to that of who died in the Terrorist Bombings-- 4,000 babies to 3,500 civilians. OH AND GET THIS-- they had an illustration done in this ratio---- 1 red body: 25,000 persons. This ratio was used for all of hte wars in US history (up to the Vietnam conflict.) Lets just say all of hte wars took only 3/4 of a page, where as the abortion PAGES took like 15-20 feet oustreached, and it was on like 11 pages. THAT MANY MILLION CHILDREN HAVE DIED DUE TO ABORTION-- THAT'S MORE THAN ALL OF THE WARS IN US HISTORY!
Good night and God Bless, Toni.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/05/03 9:50 p.m. Ah... beer, a nice cold Bud Light is running through my veins. lol It's the first beer I've had since before I hurt my ankle a month ago! No more pain meds for me!
I went to school, but on the way stopped to help Leah put on storm windows (I did mine a couple of weeks ago.) Well, the Japanese Beetles were out in full force today along with black bugs which bite. ew... it was so bad trying to get those windows on when your arms are stinging and you have bites all over. Plus the beetles smell bad. It was very nice out today, around 80, but I wonder how long the Indian Summer will last. It makes me wonder what kind of winter we're going to have if it's still this warm in October.
BTW I have the photo gallery up (the link is at the bottom of the page.)
I think I'll go and write some tonight. Good night and God Bless, Toni.

10/04/03 11:35 p.m. Dude. What. A. Day!
There's a really cool song on the radio right now, it's called "What Was I Thinin'" by Dierks Bentley. It's so funny! I have his CD, and it's great. I recommend everyone who likes country or blue grass (like yours truly) should get it a.s.a.p.!
Anyway, back to my day. Leah and I headed to Sioux City today to look for dresses for Tiff & Ryan's wedding. And guess what we came back with? NAVAL RINGS. Yes, as in, I now have a hole in my belly button. Needless to say, we didn't get the dresses--in fact--there's a whole story as to why.
I have no problem seeing blood, but then again I am a Class A clutz, so I see it a lot. Leah, on the other hand, doesn't do blood well. We got our navals pierced then the next thing I know is that as she's drving down 4th St. in Sioux City (towards Pierce) she's like, I'm feeling light headed, you have to drive. As soon as she got into the passengers seat she freaking passed out on me! She started to wave hands in the air and make funny noises. About a minute later she came to and we waited in a loading lane until she felt good enough to move again. I had to drive the rest of hte day, but she has an SUV so that was cool. We got to the mall fine, but she felt ill, so I had to pull over so she could puke. Then some stupid people decided to park behind us (I was parked illegally--when someone says they have to puke you PULL over!) and instead of being hte nice Christian person I am I didn't didn't tell them to move b/c they weren't in a parking spot. Instead, I was more worried that Leah was going to puke and then pass out again.
Eventually we made it into the mall and ate at Garfield's where she puked somemore. But we didn't shop long b/c she wasn't feeling well.
The only thing I really told her was taht she's lucky I have a strong stomach. Other friends would not have watched you puke and pass out without freaking out. She then had the guts to call me later tonight and yell at me because I called Leah's boyfriend) and told him to call her later on to makes sure she was ok. Which, he actually did, considering he is a pompass jerk.)
I'm really tired so I think I'll hit the hay. I'll be spending part of tmw at school-- Good night and God Bless, Toni.

10/04/03 12:50 a.m. HOMECOMING IS OFFICIALLY OVER! I just finished chaperoning the homecoming dance, and all that's left is cleaning up Sunday evening! Yeah!
It's been a long couple of days. Wednesday I had to go and get supplies and teach confirmation. Thursday night I got back from school at 10:00 p.m. I'm not kidding either. We decorated the entire school and had coronation. I had to give a speech about the cheerleaders and then be in the faculty skit. The faculty gave a TOP 10 LIST of reasons why we'll win homecoming. Mine was #9 and I had to say "Because our cheerleaders have hte best nails in district 1!" It was lame, but oh well!
Friday morning the cheerleaders put on the annual breakfast for the football players, faculty and senior X-Country, and volleyball players. We had to be at the school by 7 a.m. Now, did you stop to realize taht we didn't get home until 10:00 p.m. the night before!
See why it's been a long week!
We did win the game and the dance was ok. There was a lot of PDA (public display of affection) going on, so we had to continually monitor the floor. This really wasn't different for me bacuse I"m usually dancing on the floor with the kids anyway. I did learn a new dance though, and it has the cha cha in it.
Well, I think I'll check email then hit the hay! Good night & God Bless, Toni

09/30/03 Dude, am I ever tired.
ANKLE UPDATE: Sore, but getting better! It gets really sore when it's exposed to cold air, and if I exercise really hard, but it's getting better. I have been doing my strength training on it, and hope it will be as good as new in a couple months. :)
It's homecoming week, which for teachers is one hellacious week because the kids are wound up, and with the little "problem" at school it's just making it worse.
Due to the "problem" at school, I went and bought some mace tonight so I will always be safe from the person(s) involved in the incident. I know what I'm doing is right, and I refuse to become a victim. I also have not been sleeping at night since the "problem" began, so I bought some "Simply Sleep" from the makers of Tylenol (c), which should get me more than 3 hours of sleep tonight. Sweet.
Leah and I dressed up as twins today for homecoming. It was fun! We wore khakis, sketchers, ankle socks, and our plaid red buttonup shirts. It was a blast when we were standing next to each other because it was soooo evident!
Good night and God Bless--Toni

09/29/03--It's been a long weekend!
On Saturday a friend from college came up and he went to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival with me and my British Literature class, plus a chaperone. We stayed in a hotel and had a little bit of fun, but really it was a lot of giggling.
The fair was not quite as fun as what it was in August. Maybe because I had just been there, but I think it's because it was so freaking cold! Dude, I was a FFRRREEEEZZING! Even after the football game Friday night, I thought I would be better, but I had my cheer coach jaket on and gloves and a headband earmuff thing-a-ma-bob.
Not much else going on. I'm not worried about my job at all right now. I've promised the rest of the faculty not to leave based on what's going on, and they promised to back me 100%.
Today was long, dude! I didn't get much sleep Saturday night, because the girls kept me up (and we found out that we all talk in our sleep.) Then last night after the four and a half hour drive I got back to Marcus around 7:30 and talked to Leah until like 11:30 or 12. Then I crashed on my bed, and 6:00 a.m. came WAY too early!
Speaking of talking in your sleep, apparently, I talk in my sleep. The girls said I was giving a lecture, asking questions and making lesson plans. FUNNY! They, on the other hand, were talking about the wierdest things, such as taking dogs for walks, going to wierd places, etc.
Not much else to add, other than I went to my youngest brothers football game tonight and they lost, but I got a picture with him.
Good night, and God Bless--Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/26/03 11:57 p.m. I'm getting smarter. I tried to post the 09/26 message earlier and it froze up on me again, and the page closed. I remembered to copy the text before I saved. Dude! I'm learnin'!
09/26/03 11:20 p.m. I'm doing better today. The thing I was worried about getting fired for, I'm not so concerned with now. I'll just keep it at that for right now, but please keep me in your prayers.
I just got back from a football game with my cheerleaders.We won! They were so funny tonight! One of the girls fell on her butt as she went to do a kick! We all just laughed it off. I'm in a better smiling mood today! It was so funny after I got done taking to the superintendent in his office, the secretary came up and gave me a hug and said "You're all smiles, I'm proud of you. If I had to go in there and have the door closed, I'd be scared." Yeah, it just proves I do have some guts. But not many, I make the principal go with me! :)
Well, my British Lit. class is supposed to be going to the Renaissance festival in MN. I have a hotel rented for us, and hopefully my best friend from college can come and be the male chaperone. I need to call him back yet tonight.
Well, take care and God Bless! Toni
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
09/25/03 I'm crying...still. I'm doing something that is right in my mind, but I might get fired for it.
Please pray for me.
I want to talk about it, but can't on here. If you want to know, Email me.
Thank you, and God Bless, Toni

09/23/03 9:34 p.m. Today was a good day! I was back to my all smiles attitude! Yay! The kids were much happier and so was I!
Not much happened in school, other than I met with principal and he and I agreed to get together about every three weeks to work on my portfolio to get my next teaching license. I also have to work on getting my masters degree papers in. So much work! Plus, tomorrow is midterm at school so I have grades due. Which means I'm procrasinating as I also have two tests to write, prepare for pictures tomorrow and grade, grade, grade! I LOVE IT! lol.
I went to get some more Clarinex (allergy meds) today, under the new insurance. Oh, my, goodness. $30 for thirty days worth of pills! I must have had a funny look on my face because the lady said, "Well, atleast it's not the $80 you would have to pay if you didn't have insurance." I was like, "Dude, I don't think so. I would then be suffering on Bendaryl for $5, even though it vacuums, and I feel awful on it." I then thought about how lucky I am to have my job, and realize taht I have a deductible on meds.
As everyone has probably noticed by now, the lady bugs are invading, which means that it's about to get VERY COLD OUT! Oh, my goodness, after spending part of the summer in Texas, Iowa feels cold!
Good night, God Bless -- Toni

09/21/03 I am not in a good mood today. I was doing fine until I went to school and did some grading of writing journals. I can't go into the details due to legal matters, but let's just say that I can't beleive what some of my students go through with thier families. It just torques me off to see how some people treat others, and that they *THINK* they have the freaking right to do it. Ugh. The nerve of some people.
Sometimes I forget how lucky I was to grow up in a nice, for the most part, loving family.
Here's my daily ankle update...I love these, lol...To be honest, it's quite sore. I know that I am able to go back to exercising and running and the like, but I think I shouldn't have hit it so hard yesterday. I think I would have been fine had I just worked out and not played volleyball at FCA, but I am just so happy to be active again, that I really don't care. I'll probably try and take it easy for the rest of tonight and then go to the gym tomorrow night.
Well, tomorrow Leah and I are going to go and look for a guitar. She has one, and Chris has one, so I'm the only second year teacher without one, so we're going to go looking.
BTW, it's Banned Books Week. Read a book that was once banned.
My Longorns are in the top 15, yay!
Good night, and God Bless, Toni

09/20/03 11:40 p.m.
I'm tired. I stayed up late last night to read, and woke up early this morning. I did manage to get to the gym before it closed, my hair cut (again! This is twice in six weeks!), and made it to church for the blessing of the catechist. Plus, we had a home football game tonight and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes.) I left FCA early because I"m tired and now I'm writing here. How lucky for me!
For some stupid reason my sophomore boys think I'm pregnant. They keep on asking me what I'm going to name my baby. I think it's because my clothes have become a little bit baggy on me, but I"m not sure...they're just being stupid. Anyway, I'm not. There is no way, no how, I could be, so I just try to ignore them. I mean, c'mon I'm not even dating anyone right now!
I should go read and finish that book and take out my contacts. Good night and God Bless!
Toni

09/19/03 Ok, we all know my HTML is very limited, so please bear with me as I relearn how to code my website. Life is finally starting to speed up some more! But, I have this Friday night off from coaching cheerleading because the game is tomorrow night for some reason. I'm not going to complain, it's nice to have a Friday off, since I know where I'll be for the next 7 or so!
Ok, It's official, I WILL post those new songs I wrote on the other page, but PLEASE BE KIND-- I have feelings you know! I think that's what makes me so scared to show what I write, and the main reason I haven't really moved anywhere or done anything to get my songs out there and noticed. I'm hoping to buy a guitar from the pawn shop in Le Mars, though.
Oh! I am incredibly excited! I got to start exercising again last night and today, and I'm going to the gym again tomorrow! My ankle is a little sore right now, but hey, I'll live with it since I can get up and move around again! I do have to leave the gel brace on for another week, and for the rest of my life when I exercise, but if it keeps the pain away, why not?! Mom figures I will have arthritis in it b/c it hurt yesterday at the meeting, but I think it was just sympathy pain for her arthritis.
Well, I think I'll go and work on the songs and putting them onto the other page! :) Good night and God Bless! Toni
