"Toni, if you're depressed, don't read that book."

Those words of wisdom were spoken by Jeff, a friend from college with whom I called tonight. The reason he was speaking with wisdom was because I got two books from Leah tonight as a belated Christmas gift. They are The Jungle by Upton Sinclair and Main Street by Sinclair Lewis. I guess The Jungle is a book about depressing affairs during the depression and has to deal with a slaughter house in Chicago.

Now, Leah has read The Jungle and loved it. So, I'll trust her instincts (sorry Jeff!) as she and I are like twins some days and she like Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, and I loved that book, even though I had to read it for LARP.

I drove back to my place today, and am extrememly exhausted. Family, I swear... they wear you out!
