I've never given blood before and now the school needs more donors so that they can fullfill the school's goal. My seniors seem to think that I should give blood.
Here is the problem: I am freaking scared out of my britches.
Sure, I've had an IV in my arm (elbow area) to have the radioactive material traced through my blood for my triple-phase bone scan, and I've had a lot of blood drawn for my viral-syndrome infection two years ago. But, I've never actually given blood.
Just the thought of it makes my stomach turn a little bit, considering that the blood is coming out of me. I don't have a problem watching it come out of other people, though.
My 17-and-18-year-old students are giving blood, and they think I'm chicken. Maybe I am.
But, if there's still time on Monday, I'll sign up tomorrow.
Any suggestions on how to get over the terror?
