The Surf Always Has a Bit of Bad Luck...

Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper's luck seemed to have seaped through a little at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake on Saturday night. Even after waiting in line for over 3 hours, we had to wait a little longer to hear Cross Canadian Ragweed's set. And, when they take the stage, my camera dies on me, thus no pictures to share, which sucks, because I ended up with a perfect view most of the time.

Cody went out to do a quick sound check, and guess what...sound wasn't working right. So, we wait a little longer, but it was well worth it, even though voices were a little hard to hear. I only knew a couple CCR songs, but dang, I liked all the ones they played that night! I was quite surprised to see Michelle come out and sing "Sick and Tired" with them, but she did a great job! I really enjoyed "Boys from Oklahoma," even though the woman behind me was yelling about how much she loved Cody throughout that song. I do agree with Judy, though, Cody is kinda cute, but he makes the best faces during solos! Once I got home, I was asked to classify what type of music CCR played. I didn't know what to say, so I said it's kind of like metal meets country...or like a grunge country. How do you classify CCR?!

Dierks and Terminally Lonesome Band were on stage in what seemed like no time. Truthfully, this was not the best DB show I've been to. He didn't even seem into it... actually, everyone lacked enthusiasim, except the little teeny-boppers who were screaming for Dierks...that's not even the worst part. I kept on getting pushed forward in the crowd (I was fairly close to the stage to begin with), and while being pushed, I end up with absolutely NO personal space at all. I kept telling myself that this is what it's like to be a sardine in a sardine can, because not only was I being squished, I got to view another person's ass for a good 2 minutes. Some drunk (underage, I'm sure) girl decided to get on her friends shoulders so she could say hi to Dierks. They did this right in front of me...oh, I was so impressed, NOT. And the freaking screaming. GAH!!! I know if I had met New Kids on the Block when I was 10 or 11, I would have been screaming just as loud, so I shouldn't say much. This was the sweetened version--I've talked to some of you about what else went on.

The Surf does have a little luck for people, like Waylon Jennings and myself.

I went to the concert with Judy, B, and Judy's Mom, but once the concert started, I was lost from the bunch for various reasons. JM and I met up at the very end and found J and B with Kai back by the sound equiptment. I hadn't really met Kai before, because the one time I talked to him, I asked about Judy (go figure! LOL), but I got a hug out of him this time. Then, we waited in line outside by the bus so JM, could meet DB, and J asked Kai for me if Michelle had any CD's with her. We had to go find her to see if she did, and SHE DID! THANK YOU JUDY FOR ASKING!!! Michelle came out with one, autographed it, and took a picture with me--THANK YOU AGAIN, JUDY! Michelle was very good to me that night. She didn't have to go and get the CD, because I know they were being pressured to get everything done so they could get on the road to Nashville, but she did. And, I am very grateful to her for her being so nice to us (I don't think I was the only one...B kept on saying how seeing Michelle that night would be a good end to the night). I really like Michelle's CD--I can relate to a lot of those songs, like "Gorgeous Lies" and "That's Not Me" and "You Either Do or You Don't". Plus, they are all in my vocal range, which is awesome!

I wanted to stick around and talk for a little bit longer, but I couldn't. Physically that is. My feet hurt so much from my orthotic plates that I was ready to bawl once I hit the motel room. Yet, I had a great time, but how can you not when you go with a great bunch of people?!

Tomorrow (the 9th) is my mom's 48th birthday! I bet she's so glad I'm putting that on the Internet. Happy Birthday, Ma!
