Fraud, Part 1

It's no secret that I get annoyed easily. However, the Internet has made my annoyances easier to find some days.

Today, in happenstance, I came across a blog (which remain nameless, however I would like to say that it's not a person I know, nor is it a person I have ever corresponded with) where the author was intent on becoming a "creative writer," specifically a "poet."

This person has not taken poetry courses, and for the record I have taken a poetry course in graduate school and I DO NOT consider myself a good poet (much less a poet of any type.)

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but being able to string a couple of words into a line is not poetry.

Poetry
A man with
ability to communicate
words
proves he can
write.

Ok, ok, maybe it is poetry, but it's not good poetry (clarification: I'm not saying I write good poetry either, but I'm not going around calling myself a poet.) Good poetry is that of Tennyson, Wordsworth, Keats, Bishop, Lowell, Plath, Saxton, et al., where they were ableeto pour not only their words, but also their structure and education.

Meaning, anyone can write a poem about a mountain, but a poet writes about the lonely tree in the top elevations of the mountain. The poet takes a voice and becomes that tree. The structure of the poem is curt and ignores the obvious. Don't tell me what's goign on, SHOW ME.

I have to get ready for work, but I have more to say about this.

I know I suck at writing, but it's my way of releasing certain things...I admit that I suck, but I write anyway! lol
