I'd Probably Be Kicked Out...

This story in Sioux City has been the the leading 5 and 6 p.m. stories. Yeah, I know, we live in such an interesting area...

I don't have a problem with students dying their hair. When I was teaching, kids dyed their hair all the time. It never caused a problem in the classroom. Low V-necks, hickeys and thongs made more disruption than, well, to put it lightly, fire drills.

Anyway, I would so be kicked out of school for how much I dye my hair weird colors. Most of the time I use wash out color, so it's gone in about 2 months. But, when I do use permanent hair dye, I have found a color that is almost an exact shade of my natural hair so that when my roots show badly I can go back to my natural dark brown color.

My brothers also dye their hair at times. In junior high and high school my mom always told us that we could do whatever we wanted with our hair, pierce anything above the waist (obviously this was before eyebrow rings, nipple rings and naval rings were cool) as long as we didn't go out drinking, have sex or do anything illegal. Donkey, Little Donkey and I have definitely used this to our advantage.

My brothers and I have many piercings and definitely have dyed our hair a ton of different colors. Um...for the most we never caused problems in school--barring when Donkey told a teacher "that's bull shit" when the teacher told him that he was doing something wrong--and I substitute teach at my hometown school when I have time and they don't have a problem with my hair colors. In fact, they think it's a healthy form of expression. It's healthy in the fact that you're able to rebel and be an individual without causing bodily harm.
