Sending the California Howdy to 2004...

2004 was definitely not my year. And since this is probably my last update until I post resolutions in 2005, I thought I would take one last look at the year.

January:
Started the year off by learning that my old ankle stress fractures were not just stress fractures anymore, but actual fractures. 10 new x-rays later I was put into a black boot cast.

February:
Had my first IV ever. I was injected with radioactive material and given a bone scan to see exactly where the fractures were. Found out that my medial ankle bone was basically shattered.

March:
Released from hellish job. Decided to definitely go back to graduate school. Had appointment with pain management specialist for foot/ankle pain. Put on pain medicine.

April:
Went to a KC/KU/DB concert. Kept up with podiatry appointments and physical therapy appointments.

May:
Start of many interviews for different companies. Kept up with podiatrist and finished physical therapy.

June:
Turned 24. On my birthday I had to have a tooth filled and had my feet cast for my new orthotics at the podiatrist's office. Spent most of the day traveling between the dentist office and doctor's office. Took my class for my teaching license. Loved it. Had more interviews.

July:
More interviews. Family reunion at campground. Found out that paperwork was missing for graduate school.

August:
More interviews. Finally was given a clean bill of health from the podiatrist. Took youngest brother to a concert in Des Moines.

September:
Nothing really happened...besides interviews.

October:
Began substitute teaching. Made creative food for Halloween. More interviews.

November:
Awesome CCRW/DB concert. Subbed for elementary and high school courses. At the end of the month I decided to definitely go back to school.

December:
Registered for classes, found out I'm living in campus suites. Signed my MPN and Entrance loan counseling for graduate school online. Just waiting for the entire loan to go through. Subbed quite a bit...had a couple pukers, too. Family had the flu over Christmas, but I haven't been sick, knock on wood. Christmas was good.

For everything it's worth, 2004 wasn't all that bad. I haven't been this happy in a long time. For once I've made my own decisions in life, and now I have to suck it up if I made wrong ones. But, for what it's worth, I don't think I have. Yes, I know I'll be in debt for many years to come, but graduate school is what I want to do.

Everyone have a safe and happy evening tomorrow night as we say "SCREW YOU" to 2004 and "Hello, New Opportunities" to 2005.
