Happy 4th of July!

May God Bless the United States, even though our administration is about as good as bumbling idiots. (Eh, I know I already have an FBI file.)

May God Bless the freedoms given to all Americans.

May God Bless all troops working for our rights and freedom. Soldiers keep our heads safe, while risking their own. May God Bless the troops and their families for the great sacrifices being made.

God Bless my dad, for joining the Navy during Vietnam. He taught me true patriotism. Even though none of his kids will ever be able to join the military (many broken bones and allergic reactions), he taught us that soliers are humans and that this country is great.

I just finished watching The Crossing on The History Channel--the movie about George Washington (yes, I know I'm a dork). I'm a fanatic of historical war movies, books and museums. I own both Gettysburg and Gods and Generals, plus I have the Gods and Generals book. I almost became a history major in college, but then I realized than an English major has about as much history in it as a history major does, but English majors don't have to learn dates! (But, thanks to my history professor at Dana, Dr. Jorgenson, I had to memorize all 44 presidents and their dates of service--I only remember about 1/2 of that 4 years later.) Besides, I'd like to keep history as my hobby. I did, though, date a history professor at one time, so I think history may be even more than a hobby sometimes.

Well, looks like I'm going to have to force myself to go to Omaha. I'm not moving very fast this afternoon, and I am not looking forward to the drive. My stomach is still burning, but not quite as bad as yesterday, and I did manage to eat pizza last night.

I was just thinking about my past 4th of July's. My favorite one so far has to be when my family went out to my aunt and uncle's when they lived in Illinois. We went to a fireworks show in Rockford, and it lasted for an hour. We were just a little ways away from where they shot them off (actually we were on the next bridge), and we laid down on the bridge and looked into the sky. It wasn't hot or cold, but just fun being there with my favorite cousins.
