Guitars, Tiki Bars... and the Dude that had Surgery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me just say... sometimes when I'm in Wal-Mart, moving up his CD's and telling people about him, I kind of ask myself, "Why do I do this?" Tonight, I remembered why. This dude is respectable and can belt a great tune!
We got great parking 4 blocks away, and walked to the Tyson center, only to see that the main entrance was freaking FULL. So, we went to side entrance, and waited 10 minutes until they let us in at 6. We finally found the Will Call window, and thank goodness we were early, they changed the Meet and Greet time to 6:15, instead of 6:45.
So, we go into the M&G I introduced myself to Kai, and then I was like--"Yeah, too bad Judy's not here," and Dierks overheard us and was like "What? She's not here?!" It was so funny! I get my photo taken, my brother's GF gets hers taken and then my brother, Donkey, goes up to Dierks and Donkey had him sign something for our little brother. The next thing I know is that I'm getting ready to take a photo of Donkey when Dierks was like, "C'mon you two, get over here--group photo." Donkey told Dierks that he was not getting his photo taken alone, because the "those two" keep on taking him to these concerts. Apparently we didn't hear Donkey the first time, but Dierks got our attention, and we took a group photo. :) Pictures will be up soon!
The concert was ok. Dierks was great as usual, but I don't think it will ever beat the honky tonks, when we hear all of his songs. Keith was great, too! But, Kenny, I was disappointed. It wasn't quite as fun and upbeat as I thought it might be. Truthfully, if I had to pay to just see Dierks and Keith, I would have been a lot happier.
But, then again, if I had been with more friends, it might have been better. Donkey isn't exactly keen on country music, like I am. I sang every song, which I think annoyed the fuck out of him. I was hollering and screaming a lot during Dierks' set, as it was kind of quiet in the area I was in, and Donkey kept on giving me a look that could kill...but I was still loud! (Which reminds me, I wish we had our Street Team shirts because not a lot of people knew who Dierks was, and a couple of times when they saw my db M&G badge, they asked about him.) I'm sure the drunks in front of us won't forget my screaming, as I was about the only one... but by the time Kenny came on, everyone (but me) was sceaming. *Highlight of the Kenny finale--Keith kissed Kenny.Saw it right on big screen.*
Overall, great experience. I can't wait to do it again, either. Any other DB concerts close to home?!
