The Bridges of My Life...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got a call about 9:15 yesterday morning, and the voice on the other line asked me to go road tripping. I, of course, agreed...and at 9:45 I was on the road. Leah and I were going to go and surprise Jarrod, who lives 3 hours away in southern Iowa.
After reaching his home, he went to play practice, so we decided to go up to Des Moines. On the way to Des Moines we decide to take a detour through Winterset, which is in Madison county...can you see where this is going?!
First, we stopped at the birthplace of John Wayne, but refused to go into the museum, as we're both cheap and $2.50 was way too much to go inside the matchbox house. Then, we went to Hogsbach (sp?) bridge, from the Bridges of Madison County. We only went to one bridge, if we had had more time, we would have gone to more, but, we wanted to go to the mall. Since it was on the way back to black topped roads, we stopped at a little brown school house and out house, and Leah even stopped to let me take an artistic photo of a windmill, surrounded by trees.
In capital city (yes, that's the correct spelling for a capital that's a place for government dealings--so LeMars, you need to change your Ice Cream Capital to Capitol!!!!) I managed to only spend $12 on some socks. Yes, socks. Anyone who knows me, knows I love funky socks. I bought a pair of "Grumpy Bear" socks and another Care Bear's pair. They are my favorite birthday present too... hint, hint to someone out there.
Went back to Jarrod's and we had the joy of watching some wacko on Comedy Central, and of course, basketball. Throw in all of the talk about porn, sex, and politics, and I'm suprised we got out of there at 8:45 last night.
